I may add support for the google protocol to my ASP.Net MVC RESTful implementation:

http://shouldersofgiants.co.uk/blog
( Piers Lawson) http://www.silverlightshow.net/items/Deep-Dive-Into-WCF-Part-2-Serialization-on-the-speed-of-light-with-Google-Protocol-Buffers.aspx Sun, 14 Feb 2010 04:32:40 +0300 RE: Deep Dive Into WCF Part 2: Serialization on the speed of light with Google Protocol Buffers http://www.silverlightshow.net/items/Deep-Dive-Into-WCF-Part-2-Serialization-on-the-speed-of-light-with-Google-Protocol-Buffers.aspx#comment2828 HttpContext contains user of ASP.NET membership so u can use it directly of with MVC fliters. I've mentioned them in the article.
There would be no problems with real world.

The only thing I missed in PB is that there is not generic method for deserialization. Also it is not possible out of the box to deserialize entity by typename. But do we really need this in web service?
( Alexey Z.) http://www.silverlightshow.net/items/Deep-Dive-Into-WCF-Part-2-Serialization-on-the-speed-of-light-with-Google-Protocol-Buffers.aspx Tue, 22 Dec 2009 19:58:25 +0300 RE: Deep Dive Into WCF Part 2: Serialization on the speed of light with Google Protocol Buffers http://www.silverlightshow.net/items/Deep-Dive-Into-WCF-Part-2-Serialization-on-the-speed-of-light-with-Google-Protocol-Buffers.aspx#comment2825 Great article.
