Thanks a lot for your response. I played around with it move and Phonegap and was able to create a plugin for Phonegap which will enable the Speech and TTS interaction from HTML5 applications.

The offline speech recognition using SRGS grammars/or comma separated grammars is very valuables. I feel WP beats Android and iOS in this department. I used to love MS Voice Commander on Windows Mobile but this is getting even better.

Hi. There is no WinRT counterpart of this at the moment, which means you cannot use the same APIs and features in Windows 8 Store Apps.

HTML5 is not a first class citizen on Windows Phone, meaning you cannot create apps with it (as in Windows 8). Maybe in the future it'll be possible to use speech features from HTML through one of the available frameworks (i.e. PhoneGap) however I think none of them supports this at the moment.

I also realized that with custom grammars and Airplane mode enabled (Offline) the voice commands works from start screen as well as within the app. Only when you need a free flow text interepreted using BING (like voice notes.) it needs a network.

Cool! Android and iOS does not support this at this point.

This article is very helpful and worked just fine for me. Is it possible to create a HTML5 app and use the speech recognition with custom grammars? It will be great if you can put up a sample app using HTML5.

Do you know if WIndows RT/Pro supports this in the Windows Store apps?
