Path Layout is a Silverlight 4 application with two examples inside it:

The first one shows how to show items of a List Box in a circular path, using dynamic data source.

The second part shows how you can use Path Layout to create a path animation in Silverlight.

Sample Data has been available to us from Expression Blend 3, but now with Blend 4, Silverlight 4 and Expression Blend 4 SDK there is new control – PathListBox enabling you to create list box looking however you want them to look – not just rectangular. This allows you to create nice radial, spiral and many other types of layout.

To go along with the Expression Studio 4 launch, the team has put together a new 5-day OnRamp training course. The course introduces the Expression Studio tools and is very useful as a first step into the wild world of Expression. The fifth day of the course leads you to the .toolbox site where more advanced courses and tutorials are provided.

The PathListBox is a new control included in the Expression Blend 4 SDK that builds on the original functionality of the ListBox, displaying multiple items and item selection, and new functionality enabling path-based layout. The PathListBox provides many areas of customization through properties and a custom child container control, the PathListBoxItem.

I was playing around and making a Silverlight game and I realized I needed to do hit detection, that is know when one object hit another. After some searching I came accross Andy Beaulieu’s blog where he writes about how to do it in a very effective way. I show how to implement Andy’s solution in this new video.

This is the fourth in a fast paced series on programming Windows Phone 7. In this mini-tutorial I will demonstrate how absurdly easy it is to create a master page with a list of data, and a details page to display more information about the selected item, and to animate the transition from one to the other. To make it more interesting, we’ll get the list and the details from a web service, using oData.

In response to my Twitter buddy Funwithcoding I made this post: In Silverlight you can only add one BitmapEffect (Blur or DropShadow) to one object at a time. But these effects are passed down to their child objects (inheritance).  For that reason we can use a little trick and apply multiple effects to one object (or so it appears). 

Here we will use a DataGrid which will load some customer information. Then we will pass the data to the Excel Sheet and then we will modify the data in the external application (i.e. inside the Excel sheet). You will see that, the modified data will reflect automatically to the Silverlight Application.
