    In Authorization Sample 301 I explained the ins-and-outs of the authorization sample and offered a few hints as to how it could be used. In this post, I will show a specific example where I put together an authorized form using the Model-View-ViewModel pattern.

    Kyle McClellan has posted about ComboBox and included a sample along with the post to get you started.

    I’ve seen a few good posts out there using the DomainDataSource with a ComboBox that make things look easy. Since those were already well trodden paths I thought it would be important to identify some of the harder scenarios. After a bit of investigation, three things came forward as being particularly difficult.

    • Loading ComboBox contents asynchronously
    • Implementing cascading ComboBoxes
    • Using ComboBoxes for Entity associations

    In this post Kyle McClellan explains how with a little coaxing RIA Authentication can be mode to work in Out-Of-Browser scenarios.

    RIA Services does not support Out-Of-Browser (OOB) Forms authentication out of the box. The reason this does not work is that the Browser networking stack handles cookies differently than the Client networking stack (used OOB).
