0 comments  /  aggregated from  Andy's Blog  on  Mar 09, 2008 (more than a year ago)   /   original article

Woohoo - the video that Bill Reiss and I created for the MIX08 Show Off! Event took second place! The video showed off some demos and games we created using the Farseer Physics engine created by Jeff Weber.

Details are here, and the video should be posted at visitmix.com "soon"...

UPDATE 3/12/08: It looks like the videos still haven't been posted on visitmix.com, so I figured I would encode it myself and throw it up on Silverlight Streaming... Here it is, enjoy. Also, if you are interested in seeing the First Place winner, Crayon Physics, you can see that here.

Microsoft Vice President Scott Guthrie just did a .NET Rocks interview with Carl and Richard this week about his upcoming keynote at MIX and all the news we'll be announcing.   Check it out. It starts at about 4 minutes in.  He talks about Silverlight 2 taking on the Beijing Olympics with NBC, and lots more!

  • Silverlight Spy 2.0 Video Preview

In order to demonstrate some of the features of the upcoming Silverlight Spy 2.0 I have created a 4.5 minute video of the Spy in action.

Silverlight Spy 2.0 is still in it's early alpha stages and not available yet. The next Spy will be released after Silverlight 2.0 Beta becomes available to the public. There is still some work required to stabilize the code and of course a lot of things are still unknown about Silverlight 2.0, but it's my intention to support Silverlight 2.0 right from the next Spy release.

Today's Webcast focused on factoring out repeated creation of objects in XAML (and their manipulation in the code behind) by creating objects dynamically using CreateFromXaml (This will be available for viewing as soon as the recording is processed).

The webcast began by showing this application, that uses animation to display changes in data over time.

It then explored the problems with this approach and offered a solution as shown in this video.
