Below you may find a summary of all new content we've published on SilverlightShow throughout the week July 2 - 8, 2012:
In the beginning of the week, we published the next part of Andrea Boschin's Windows 8 Metro Series. Read it here:
In Part 6 from this series, Andrea explored the main controls that support the new user experience in metro style applications. In this article, he continues with two advanced features - Semantic Zoom, that is the ability to coordinate the content of two controls to easily explore a collection, and Incremental Loading that let you load items in chunks when they really need.
This Tuesday (July 3rd, 2012), SilverlightShow had the honor to host another great webinar by Silverlight MVP Michael Crump - 10 Things Silverlight Developers Should Know About Windows 8. Those of you who didn't make it to the live session can now watch the recorded presentation online:
Also, check out the questions from the Q&A session.
In this webinar Silverlight MVP Michael Crump will look at how Silverlight developers skills translate over to WinRT. He will dive straight into 10 things that he has discovered while working with WinRT. You will quickly find out just how much you will need to learn to work with this new platform.
For less than an year, SilverlightShow Ebooks Shelf has grown to the impressive 30 ebooks. And the last one that was just added to the shelf will surely be of interest to the fans of Windows 8 Metro:
This ebook actually collects the first 7 parts of SilverlightShow article series 'Windows 8 Metro', together with source code.
Since we expect 10+ articles from this series to be published in the future, we'll divide the ebook into 2 or 3 parts (depending on the readers' interest and requests for additional topics to be included in it).
In part 1, the author Andrea Boschin introduced the basic concepts of Windows 8 development, and covers developing your first application, the application life-cycle, the new metro controls and more.
