David Anson has another great DataVisualization post with new samples.

My DataVisualizationDemos application is a collection of nearly all the Data Visualization samples I've posted to my blog. And just like the Data Visualization assembly (get Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization Development Release 4 here!), the demo application runs on Silverlight 3,Silverlight 4, WPF 3.5, and WPF 4 and shares the same code and XAML across all platforms. It's a handy way to look at bunch of sample code running on any of the supported platforms. What's more, each demo page has hyperlinks to relevant blog post(s) for more detail about each scenario, so it's a good learning tool as well! :)

David Anson has published the updated version of his Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization Development Release and this time he has included Windows Phone 7.

As with previous Data Visualization Development Releases, I've updated the code and binaries to match the most recent Toolkit release. The Silverlight 4 Toolkit shipped most recently, so the code in this Development Release is identical to what just went out with that. Which means people using Data Visualization on Silverlight 3, Windows Phone 7, WPF 3.5, or WPF 4 can also take advantage of the latest round of improvements by updating their applications to use the binaries included with this Development Release (or by compiling the included source code themselves).

In this post David Anson talks about the improvements to the Data Visualization assembly in the April '10 release of the Silverlight Toolkit.
The primary goal for Data Visualization in this release of the Toolkit was to implement support for stacked series. I started out by looking at ways of adding that functionality to the existing series hierarchy (based on the DataPointSeries base class). There were two options that seemed interesting, so I played around with each for a bit. But while both definitely seemed viable, neither felt completely right to me.

David Anson has updated his collection of great Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization resources.

My many thanks go out to everyone who has spent time helping people learn how to use Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization!

  • Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization Development Release 3 and a DataVisualizationDemos Update

In this post David Anson discusses the new Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization Development release and updates his DataVisualizationDemos sample project.

As with previous Data Visualization Development Releases, I've updated to the most recent Toolkit code. And like last time, the Silverlight Toolkit shipped most recently so the code in the new Development Release is identical to what just went out with the Silverlight 3/4 Toolkits. However, people using Data Visualization on WPF 3.5 or 4 can take advantage of the latest changes by updating to the binaries included with this Development Release or by compiling the corresponding code themselves.

David Anson has updated his collection of great Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization resources.

In the time since sharing my last collection of Silverlight/WPF Charting links, there have been some great new articles I'd like to highlight. And in case you haven't heard, we published the October 09 release of the Silverlight Toolkit last week, so please consider upgrading if you haven't already!

In this post David Anson discusses the Data Visualization Development Release 2 and revises his DataVisualizationDemos sample project.

In the grand tradition of Data Visualization Development Releases, I've updated things to match the most recently released Toolkit code. In this case, that's the Silverlight Toolkit, so the code in the new Development Release is identical to what just went out with the Silverlight Toolkit. That means there's a bunch of new code for WPF here! People using Data Visualization on WPF can take advantage of the latest changes by updating to the binaries included with this Development Release or by compiling the corresponding code themselves.

Bea Stollnitz has just completed a 3-post series describing how to add annotations to pie charts. Here they are:

    • How can I add labels to a WPF pie chart?
    • How can I add labels to a WPF pie chart? – Implementation details
    • How can I port the WPF labeled pie chart to Silverlight?

David Anson is announcing Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization Development Release 1.

It was about two months ago that I posted about Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization Development Release 0. At the time, I explained how I was hoping to do occasional, out-of-band releases of the Data Visualization assembly that's part of the Silverlight Toolkit and WPF Toolkit in order to give people an early glimpse of upcoming changes and maybe get a bit of feedback along the way. It's that time again...

Rui Marinho finally managed to produce his first screencast. It shows some new features of the Silverlight RTM 3 in action, while you see how easy it is to use these new techniques allied to the power of Silverlight to quickly make an application that brings value to your company.
