SilverlightShow Page for all Silverlight and Windows Phone 7 (WP7) things on Twitter

In this article, Pravinkumar Dabade explains how to fetch SharePoint 2010 list data in Silverlight application using REST Service ‘ListData.svc’.

    Source: Dot Net Curry

Silverlight applications can easily read and write data back to SharePoint lists by using different methods. One of the methods of reading and writing the data back into SharePoint Lists is by using ‘REST Services’. So we need to first create a SharePoint site using ‘Team site’ template. The steps to create a SharePoint Site using a Template ‘Team Site’ remains the same, as shown in my previous article, SharePoint Dashboard with Common Filters using PerformancePoint Services 2010.

In this article, we will see how Silverlight can be used in SharePoint 2010. This article is Part I of Silverlight Integration with SharePoint 2010  where we will see how to use different Web Parts of Silverlight in SharePoint.

The first step is to create a SharePoint site using ‘Team Site’ template. The steps remain the same as shown in my previous article, SharePoint Dashboard with Common Filters using PerformancePoint Services 2010. Now after you have created a SharePoint site with ‘Team Site’ template, let’s add a special library called ‘Asset Library’. This library is used to store video files.

SilverlightShow Page for all Silverlight and Windows Phone 7 (WP7) things on TwitterIn this article, Pravinkumar Dabade demonstrates how to align the text to a given path using a PathListBox control in Silverlight 4.

    Source: Dot Net Curry

The PathListBox control is a new addition to the Blend 4 SDK, and allows the elements inside a ListBox to lay out along any Path control shape. Using this control, you can achieve basic motion path animation in Silverlight and WPF. I had previously written an article on how to use Motion Path in WPF 4 using Expression Blend 4. We can do a similar example in Silverlight 4.0 as well. Follow the above steps to achieve the same goal in Silverlight 4 using Microsoft Expression Blend 4.

In this article, we will see how to align some objects to a given path using the ‘PathListBox’ control in WPF 4.0 and Expression Blend 4. We will also see how to animate these objects using Visual states in WPF. To use Visual States, you will need some basic knowledge of Behaviors. Read my previous article Silverlight 4: Introduction to Behaviors to learn more.

SilverlightShow Page for all Silverlight and Windows Phone 7 (WP7) things on TwitterIn this article, Pravinkumar Dabade demonstrates how Silverlight 4 and Expression Blend SketchFlow helps in designing deep dive prototypes for a product.

    Source: Dot Net Curry

When Microsoft released Silverlight 3, they also released Microsoft Expression Blend 3. In Blend 3.0, they came up with SketchFlow for prototyping user interface scenarios.

SketchFlow plays a very important role in our product development. By using SketchFlow designer, we can :

        1) Experiment ideas by using ‘Top-down’ and ‘Bottoms-up’ designs.
        2) SketchFlow player lets us try our designs at any time.
        3) Communicate our design ideas to the stakeholders and customers.
        4) Easily gather, evaluate and use the feedback from our stakeholders and customers.
