Create a demo programs that illustrates usage of the following data display items from the toolbox

• DataGrid
• DataPager
• TreeView

The collection and application need to be hosted on a web server (even the Visual Studio development web server that VS starts up to run your Silverlight apps will do just fine). You'll also need at least .net 3.5 installed to run the application.

The release notes are available here. A couple of things to point out:

• Expression Blend for Windows Phone is now part of the install
• It's now possible to unlock a device (if you're fortunate enough to have one) and to deploy XAP files directly to it
• There are a number of breaking changes to the API but it's getting close to baked. You can see a full rundown here

Okay, tough love: if you are serious about Silverlight development, the days of using one Integrated Development Environment for all you work are…. over.  The benefits of adding Expression Blend to your toolkit, and getting serious about learning how to use it well are so overwhelming that you can no longer afford to ignore them.

I often receive email saying, more or less, “I am starting Silverlight, can you tell me what to read first.”
