  • David Teitlebaum: VideoWall with WPF

Rob Relyea posted about the short write-up that David Teitlebaum recently did on some tips that he has shared with customers doing VideoWalls.

WPF applications can only run with hardware acceleration when their window's size does not exceed the maximum texture size allowed by the machine's video card (typically 4k x 4k or 8k x 8k).  This is not normally an issue when running applications on a typical monitor, but when running applications whose windows span multiple monitors, it is very easy to resize the window so large that the maximum texture size is exceeded.

In this post coming from the team of the Expression Blend and Design blog, you can learn more about one of the new samples recently added in Blend 4 called MockupDemonstration. You can also find how to enable mockup controls for any SketchFlow project.

In Expression Blend 4, one of the new samples we added is called MockupDemonstration. If you haven’t had a chance to use it yet, you can open MockupDemonstration from the Welcome screen, which is available when you first start Expression Blend or when you click Help and then click Welcome Screen. In the Welcome screen, click Samples, and then click MockupDemonstration.

Lukas Zdechovan wrote an article describing techniques of building a functional SketchFlow UI prototype with sample data and dozens of screens.

I’m working on a Silverlight demo LoB application as a part of my bachelor thesis and I made a UI prototype with a couple of screens containing sample data and some basic functionality like navigating through screens, autocomplete boxes, some pop-up windows…

In the past, the source code for the samples could only be found in the official Silverlight documentation. However, now, Karl Erickson is happy to announce that you can view the source directly from the sample browser by clicking a new button in the header section.

The code shown is the same as in the documentation, but now you don't have to dig for it! (Okay, so the digging is not much of a chore in most cases, but some topics are quite long and use multiple samples, making it harder to match the sample to the source.)

  • TrustedApp Sample from PDC 2009

0 comments  /  posted by  Silverlight Show  on  Nov 20, 2009 (7 months ago)

Joe Stegman has published the source to the TrustedApp media player sample he showed at PDC 2009.

This sample requires the Silverlight 4 Beta which you can find here. This "trusted app" sample uses the new file system APIs, notification window APIs, windowing APIs, WebBrowser control, HTML Brush and Native integration.  For Native Integration, this sample will take the current playlist and import/export to/from Excel (assuming Excel is on the system).

The Silverlight Designer Sample is available at the WPF and Silverlight Designer Extensibility site. It demonstrates a pretty neat designer implementation for Silverlight’s TabControl and DataGrid controls.

Kirupa Chinnathambi announces that Celso Gomes has started deconstructing how many of the samples work at his site.Image

In my previous post, I mentioned that most of the samples from previous versions of Expression Blend have been uploaded to our gallery. One thing that is common with all of the samples is that Celso Gomes had a hand in making them.

Go check out Celso’s site if you are interested in learning more about how these samples work.
