  • Building Silverlight 3 and Silverlight 4 applications on a .NET 3.5 build machine

Jeff Wilcox explains how to build both Silverlight 3 and Silverlight 4 applications on the same build machine, without having .NET 4 installed.

This is great for constrained TFS build environments, and although not supported in any way, this does allow you to edit and build simple Silverlight 4 apps created first for Silverlight 3, using Visual Studio 2008.

This article of Mahesh Sabnis demonstrates how a binary encoded WCF service can be consumed in Silverlight 3.0 client for messaging optimization.

With VS 2010, lots of new features have been introduced for developers to make their life easier. But one of the very exciting feature provided is inbuilt support to Silverlight. For all those who use VS2008 and Silverlight 3.0 may know that you need to install Silverlight 3.0 SDK and toolkit externally. VS2008 does not provide any drag-drop support for Silverlight controls on the designer canvas, you can drag-drop XAML of Elements in the XAML designer or need to use Expression Blend to design.

Bill Reiss has published a new version of SilverSprite for Silverlight 3.

The last time I started creating a sample game on this blog, I had to go through creating a game loop, handling keyboard input, dealing with vector mathematics, and a few other low level tasks. Along the way I created a helpers library which people could use to get started with their own games. A good amount of code from these samples made its way into SilverSprite, a free open source library that I created to make it easier to get XNA 2D games running in Silverlight.

  • A syntax highlighting TextBlock for Silverlight 3

0 comments  /  posted by  Silverlight Show  on  Mar 09, 2010 (3 months ago)
Jeff Wilcox has adapted a syntax highlighting engine to generate a syntax highlighting TextBlock control for Silverlight.

Add the control assembly to your Silverlight project. Then, add an XMLNS prefix to your Silverlight page where you’d like to use the control.

There are two properties of interest that should be set or bound: SourceCode (the actual source text), and SourceLanguage
